POEM
Hummingbird
Suppose I say summer,
write the word “hummingbird,”
put it in an envelope,
take it down the hill
to the box. When you open
my letter you will recall
those days and how much,
just how much, I love you.
– Raymond Carver, “Hummingbird”, A New Path to the Waterfall (1989). All of Us — The Collected Poems.

FILM
Where Is the Friend's House?(1987)
In Abbas Kiarostami’s film WHERE IS THE FRIEND’S HOUSE? an eight-year old boy searches for the home of his classmate, whose school notebook he has accidentally taken. Following his determined search across two towns, Kiarostami has created one of the most beautiful, miraculous, and profound films about the everyday, as seen through a child's eyes. As Ahmed continues his quest aided (and at times misdirected) by people he encounters on his journey, what unfolds in the viewer's eyes is not only a revealing portrait of rural Iranian society in all its abundance and complexity, but also a touching parable about the meaning of personal responsibility.
Sensitive, raw, and wonderous, WHERE IS THE FRIEND'S HOUSE is without a doubt, one of the most profound films ever created.
